Cartagena XIII Internacional Music Festival

After twelve seasons, the Cartagena International Music Festival is preparing to celebrate its thirteenth edition from January 4th to 13th of 2019, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

Under the title, “Celestial Harmony. Numbers, Sounds, Instruments & Music”, the Festival will explore the link between music, sounds and different forms of scientific knowledge.

A central figure will be Bach, whose significant developments concerning numerical patterns and the fascinating world of sounds, are the cornerstone of such masterpieces as The Musical Offering, Goldberg Variations, The Well-Tempered Clavier and the Brandenburg Concertos, among others.

As is tradition, featured artists shall include world-acclaimed soloists and groups, known for their specialized or innovative interpretations of the program. The prestigious London-based Philharmonia Orchestra, founded in 1945, will be key among them.

Considered one of Europe’s greatest, the orchestra has recorded with Decca, Deutsche Grammophon and Sony.

Beyond concerts, the Festival will present along with the Philharmonia’s engineers, innovative academic and scientific projects that will invite the public to an enchanting exploration of music through technology.

A valuable addition to the program will be Mozart’s opera Così fan tutte, a new coproduction with Italy’s Spoleto Festival dei 2Mondi.

Tickets through Primera Fila (www.primerafila.com.co)
The Festival’s full program will be available starting September 13, 2018. General ticket sales start October 1st.
